The Christian’s “Benefit Package”

Vinca VinePsalm 103:2 “Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits” (KJV)

Dear Friend:

As the new year begins, we are being reminded that ‘open enrollment ends soon’ and many of us are renewing our health insurance plans, or deciding on a new one, and looking at the benefits that each plan provides. When looking for a new job, we often look at the benefit package they offer before deciding if the company is offering us a good deal. With this in mind, as I was reading through Psalm 103 about this time last year, I was struck with the amazing ‘benefit package’ that is offered to “whosoever will” come to Christ and accept Him as their personal Saviour. When we put our trust in Him for the keeping of our souls eternally, He meets our greatest need – the need to be forgiven of our sins in order to be assured a home in heaven, and still satisfies our just God who demands a punishment for those sins. Along with our salvation, which is benefit enough already, we receive all the following benefits. I hope that it blesses your heart as it has blessed mine in reading through it:

Health insurance ~ “who healeth all thy diseases” (Psalm 103:2)
Protection ~ “Who redeemeth thy life from destruction” (vs4)
Personal security ~ “who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies” (vs4)
Meal Plan ~ “Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things” (vs 5)
Physical fitness plan ~ “so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s” (vs 5)
Fair treatment ~ “The LORD executeth righteousness and judgment” (vs 6)
A perfect Boss ~ “The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.” (vs8)
Emotional security ~ “Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him. For he knoweth our frame.” (vs 13 & 14)
Retirement plan ~ “To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them. The LORD hath prepared his throne in the heavens”(vs 18 & 19) (see also Matt 14:1-3)

Benefits listed in other places: Rest (Matt 11:29 & 29); Inheritance (1 Pet 1:4); Vision plan (Acts 26:18); Happiness/joy (Psalm 16:11); A fulfilling life (John 10:10); Access to the One in Power (Heb. 4:16); Disability provisions (2 Corinthians 12:9); Salary appropriate for performance (I Corinthians 3:8); Education (John 14:26); Training (Psalm 32:8); Cleaning service (I John 1:9); Life Insurance (John 5:24)

These, and many more are the ‘benefits’ of trusting Christ as Saviour.
~ There are innumerable benefits when we accept God’s unspeakable gift ~
